Playing on the road is a very difficult thing to do. It’s hard to be consistent with pre-game rituals and familiarity. However, when Yale plays Quinnipiac on the road, it’s only a 15 minute drive. Players get to sleep in their own beds, have pre-game meal in their lounge, and pretty much do all the things they would at a home game. On Saturday, we came out flying against Quinnipiac. We scored 2 goals in the first period and kept Quinnipiac scoreless until the middle of the third period. We unfortunately could not hold them off long enough to get the win. Quinnipiac had a late goal in the last minute of play to force overtime. It was a disappointing end to the game, but the team is well motivated for our last 6 regular season games left! We are still in the playoff hunt, and our playing our best hockey right now.
The team came to the rink yesterday to do our annual “Skate with the Bulldogs”. Kids from everywhere come out to skate with the Yale Women and Men’s teams. It’s great to see our team interact with the youth who look up to them and aspire to be them one day. They took photos, signed autographs, played keep away….it was a great event.
We are now underway in our preparation for Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend. Our last road trip of the regular season!
