YWIH celebrated the day before Halloween in style, when we all met (dressed in costume of course) at Payne Whitney Gymnasium. In order to be limber for our upcoming game against Providence, we stretched as a team to make sure our legs were ready to go.
The real reason we met dressed in costume; however, was to spend some quality time with our honorary member Giana, who we adopted last year as part of our team. Giana is part of a program that pairs children with brain tumors with athletic teams. Women’s softball, gymnastics and basketball have also “adopted” kids as part of their teams, and they too met us at the gym with their “bulldog buddies.” Together we set up stations with candy throughout the gymnasium so that the kids could “trick or treat” throughout the gym. Next, we went to the Varsity Room in RTH for a full out Halloween party, where we decorated cookies and ate candy corn. Sophomore Jenn Lawrence was dressed as Moses and was carrying around a wooden staff which senior Aleca Hughes decided to use as a limbo stick. Next thing we know, a limbo competition ensued, and even Gianna gave it a try. Our Halloween party ended with a classic YWIH dance party, and all in all it was a great afternoon and we hope that the kids enjoyed it!
