Yale Christmas: Official Practice Starts

Friday October 7th marks the official practice day for our 2011-2012 season. Our team calls it Yale Christmas because this is the day where we also get all of our apparel, shoes, and equipment.

For the past two days prior we were given 2 full days off and were told not to come into the locker room. Our coaches and equipment manager, Jeff, do an amazing job setting up our locker room with our goodies, and also moving our equipment around as to where our individual stalls will be for the season.

Practice Friday was tough and intense that included some conditioning and flow drills. What a way to set the pace for the season!

On Saturday we had an hour practice that culminated with the annual BLUE AND WHITE scrimmage. Both teams were tired from having skated so hard as well as only having 2 lines apiece and only 3 d on each side! We ended it with a 1 v 1 tie. After the morning practice we all caravanned over to Coach UK’s house for brunch. Both Coach and his wife prepared a awesome brunch that included chocolate chip pancakes, egg bake, potatoes, toast, fruit bowl…etc Us hungry athletes devoured it all!

We had Sunday off and are now going to use this week to prepare for our scrimmage this weekend against Brown and Princeton. Go Bulldogs!

Other news, our alumni Jackee Snikeris, Bray Ketchum, and Alyssa Clark  organized a run for Mandi this past Sunday. They ran 13/1 miles in the New York Road Runners Straten Island Half-Marathon in Mandi’s memory to help raise funds for her Memorial Bursary. You can read more on this story and Mandi’s Bursary

Angie, Coach's wife, being creative with the delicous pancakes they served the team!
