Bulldog Hockey

After disappointing weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth we had to rebound quick for Tuesday’s game on the road against Brown. We played tough over the weekend and the effort was there, so it was hard to walk away with no points on the weekend.

We took Sunday to recoup and to spend sometime with New Haven youth who came down to Ingalls Rink to ‘Skate with the Bulldogs’. Both our team and the men’s team were out in full force, as were young aspiring bulldogs skaters. We had a great time with the kids;

skating, passing and playing keep away. It was nice to have such a great turnout, and be reminded what hockey is all about – having fun.

Despite being a little beaten up from the weekend with two defensemen, two forwards, and a goalie all out with injuries and

illness, we rallied at the rink early yesterday to get some food before hitting the road extra early to avoid the crazy snowstorm. One of our games had already been postponed because of the weather so we were planning on traveling there and playing regardless of the snowstorm.

Our goal was to play Bulldog hockey and get a lead early in the first and we came out firing with three goals in the first period. Admittedly, we didn’t put forth the effort we did over the past weekend but we got the results we wanted with a 4-0 win over Brown. Sometimes we work and don’t get rewarded and sometimes things go our way regardless. In any case it was nice to see Snik get rewarded with a shutout for the effort she puts in day in and day out.

Going into two road games against Union and RPI this weekend we can’t rely on getting the bounces but instead on working hard and creating our own chances: Bulldog hockey.
