Our final weekend of games for this 2010-year was our away trips to Princeton and Quinnipiac. We started the weekend off strong beating Princeton 2-1. We scored two power play goals, one from each unit. It was an important conference win for our team.
The second game was against Quinnipiac, where we could have had our revenge from the loss in the championship Nutmeg Classic game. . We had an amazing 2nd period where we had our opportunities to take over the game, but did not capitalize. We cannot wait to play them again in February. We are so close.
Come 2nd half of the season, the start of the 2011-year, each of us needs to make a vow to do whatever it takes to make playoffs. Almost every game that we have played thus far we had our opportunities to win, but something was missing. This Holiday Break may be just what we need to regroup, refocus, and come back energized early January. We start back up again at home vs. Boston College January 3rd.
This week we have had short one hour practices that included challenging over-speed drills, skill work, and our personal favorite, mini games! Mini games are games where we have to make quick decisions under pressure, work in a small space, and of course all of this and some fun. We have had some competitive inter-squad battles with blue jerseys vs. white. Throughout this week and the next we have our reading period/exam time. It’s been nice to take some time off of studying and writing papers to come skate and lift.
We are all looking forward to wrapping up this semester’s courses and heading home to spend time with our families. One more week to go.
