A Great Tuesday to Get Better

We don’t start warm up for practice until 6:30pm but about half the team is already at the rink by 4:30. Some people are just relaxing on the couches in the lounge, a few are getting some school work done, some girls are taking advantage of the skating treadmill working on technique, while others are getting treated for injuries. I think everyone is starting to sense the energy surrounding our first league games against Harvard and Dartmouth this weekend. Yesterday we got our hardest practice in terms of conditioning out of the way, but we know we will have to continue to work hard perfecting systems and working on the details to have success this weekend. After the goalies had 30 min. of goalie world with a few players we started practice. The focus of today’s practice was skills and after a few warm-up drills we put some tunes on and did skill work like deking around the cones and going down the ice for a shot on net. We worked on our PP and PK systems full ice and at the end had a forward vs. defense/goalie competition. Defense and Goalies took home the big Win today!

With the official announcement of ‘White Out for Mandi’ we have also geared up our efforts towards organizing the event that will take place Nov 12. at Ingalls. Everyone on the team has stepped up to take an active role in recruiting fans and/or donations and other planning initiatives to make sure the event is a success. This is a great way for us to honor Mandi and show our support and we are confident that we can get record crowds to the Whale for our home opener against RPI. As much as we are all looking forward to this event and doing what ever we can we are also aware that we have to keep our focus on this weekends’ opponents. Two practices to go before Fridays game and we need to take advantage of all the ice time we can get.
